Mary McClure

Commentator - Slice of Life

Mary McClure was editor of the Fort Sill Cannoneer, consistently rated among the Army’s top three newspapers, for 18 years. She was a columnist and feature writer for the Lawton Times for two years. Since 1993, she has had a weekly commentary, Slice of Life, on KCCU.

She’s had numerous articles, essays and commentaries published in national magazines and newspapers, and included columns for two years in national newspaper supplements, Active Times and Family Times.

In 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2012, Mary won first place in the Radio Column category of the National Press Women’s Association. In 2001, Mary was the first woman to be inducted into the Army’s Public Affairs Hall of Fame in Washington, D.C. In 2003, she was selected by the City of Lawton to receive the Citizens of the Humanities award and also received the Outstanding Achievement Award in the Metro Radio Division for Special Programming by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters. KCCU has produced two Slice of Life CDs.
