The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association is urging producers to prepare to dangerous fire conditions on Tuesday.
I was able to talk with one cattle producer about how he’s preparing.
Jeremy Kinder is the owner and operator of 6 K Ranch in Faxon, Oklahoma. Kinder told me there's multiple steps to take to ensure the safety of his cattle.
“We’re taking precautions where we, the high forage areas, is where we try to keep cattle bunched up a smaller more accessible area, we also make sure that we’ve got some water stationed around in case of a fire outbreak. On our ranch, and then obviously communication with our neighbors and fellow cattlemen and cattlewomen and if they need something to don’t hesitate to give us a call and well come runnin’.”
The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association says if you see smoke to call 9-1-1 immediately who will dispatch first responders. They also say if you find yourself in the line of fire remember your personal safety.
