Hello and welcome! Thanks for tuning in to KCCU, I’m Serenity Clark bringing you CU News.
To get the upcoming semester kicked off the right way, Cameron University has a handful of new professors teaching all new courses this Fall. One of them is the multifaceted blues musician Steven Story, a professional performer and master instructor with decades of experience under his belt.
Story is a string instrumentalist, having traveled with a number of music legends like Red Steagall and playing iconic venues like the Grand Ole Opry.
An Oklahoma native, Story has arrived at Cameron University to offer an all new selection of music courses, open to anyone with interest.
Soundbite: “I’m here at Cameron to teach guitar and violin and a small ensemble… and I may even have a string quartet before it’s over, I hope.”
There are no limitations for who can enroll in Story's courses, either.
Soundbite: “We want to also appeal to the adults in the community… If there’s a guy that wants to learn to play guitar, they can come over here and enroll.”
With Story’s experience and versatility, there is something for everyone in his classes.
Soundbite: “We’re here, you know. We've got jazz, western swing, we got blues, we got country, pop, you kow… So I’m hoping that what I bring to the table is unique enough that I become an asset to the music department and we can create, you know, some new things.”
Story’s unwavering passion for the arts translates through his performances as well as his teachings. Sign up for a class or two today and see what Steven Story is all about. Keep your eyes peeled for any future performances as well.
Music… outro: That’s all I’ve got for you today, folks. Until next time, I’m Serenity Clark for CU News on KCCU.
