This week we hear from Staff Sergeant Brinker, who competed for the U.S. Army 2026 Drill Sergeant of the Year, representing Southwest Oklahoma as the top choice from Fort Sill and the Fires Center of Excellence.
Listen to our interview above and hear from SSG Brinker explaining his military career, why he wanted to compete for this honor and how close he came to winning the entire competition, becoming the official runner-up for the 2026 Drill Sergeant of the Year.
We'd like to thank SSG Brinker for his service to our country, and for his contribution in guiding, teaching and leading the next generation of Army recruits as a Drill Sergeant. His role in shaping future soldiers is arguably one of the most influential jobs in the Army.
Thank you to everyone for listening and supporting KCCU Public Radio and your local Public Media.
