Chinese Blame Failing Bridges On Corruption
No nation has built so many roads, bridges and buildings so quickly as China. But since 2011, eight bridges have collapsed, according to China's state-run media. Many believe the culprit is government corruption that leads to shoddy construction practices.

ESPN has agreed to pay the baseball association $5.6 billion over the next eight years for broadcast and digital rights to games. That's a record for baseball broadcasting rights, according to Major League Baseball.

Calif. Leaders Agree To Overhaul Pension System
California Governor Jerry Brown has reached a deal with legislators to overhaul the state's pension system. The changes include capping annual pension payments, requiring new employees to pay 50 percent of their pension costs and raising the retirement age. The package will save the state about $30 billion.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is expected to decide soon whether to allow natural gas companies to use the controversial drilling technique known as hydro-fracking. Rainfall Tops Levee In Rural Louisiana Parish
Hurricane Isaac is reminding residents of Hurricane Katrina which struck the Gulf Coast seven years ago. In rural Plaquemines parish, water is over top of the levee. The levee in southeastern Louisiana is different than the levees in New Orleans, which seem to be doing "quite well."

Isaac Dumps Major Rainfall Around New Orleans
Because Isaac is moving slowly, it is dumping a lot of rain. The president of Plaquemines Parish is reporting plenty of damage. He says water washed over a levee and stranded people in that area of southeastern Louisiana.
