President Obama hosted House Speaker John Boehner Thursday, spending nearly an hour together in which they discussed ways to avert the looming "fiscal cliff" of spending cuts and tax hikes that will arrive at the end of 2012. Boehner left the White House at 6 p.m., apparently without reaching a deal.

New Jobs Report Is A Bounceback From Disappointing August
The U.S. jobless rate dropped below 6 percent in September, the lowest it's been since July 2008. And employers added 248,000 new jobs to their payrolls, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Astronauts Ready For Marathon Spacewalks
NASA astronauts will be heading out to conduct critical repairs on the International Space Station early Saturday morning. The 6 1/2-hour spacewalk, the first in a series, will replace a faulty piece of cooling equipment.
