Young Professionals of Lawton to host annual Bowties and Bourbon

Grab a mint julep and your best derby dress, it’s time for the Kentucky Derby!

The Young Professionals Of Lawton are having their annual Bowties and Bourbon event this weekend.

Frank Myers, Chair of the Young Professionals of Lawton says Bowties and Bourbon is a way for the community to come out and get the full Kentucky Derby Experience.

“Bowties and Bourbon is our annual event we do around the Kentucky Derby so it’s kind of a watch party and it has a bourbon tasting involved with it. So, people come out, get dressed up, and we have a best bowtie contest and the best derby hat contest for the ladies and it’s just a fun event that we put on for the community”, said Myers.

Myers says he wants Lawton-Fort Sill to know this area is thriving with young professionals.

“I want the community to know we have a vibrant group of young professionals in our community who want to work together and network together and develop relationships with each other that are like minded individuals who are trying to make the community better and more appealing to our demographic”, Myers said

The money from Bowties and Bourbon will actually go back to Young Professionals of Lawton to fund the activities they participate in throughout the year.
