LATS recognizes Human Trafficking Awareness Day during Try Transit Week

Lawton Area Transit system is celebrating Try Transit Week.

On Friday they were set up at the Lawton Farmers Market for Human Trafficking Awareness Day with the Rolling Oklahoma Classroom, also known as the ROC Bus.

Tony Hansley, head of Marketing and Innovation says they teamed up with Red Cord and the ROC Bus to educate the community.

“This is our human trafficking awareness day, so we brought in the ROC Bus the Rolling Oklahoma Classroom, it’s a bus that has education materials and raises awareness about human trafficking, it has artwork from victims, it has a lot of great information and it’s there to help the community and the public to be more aware of what’s going on here in the state."

Oklahoma Transit Association Intern Morgan Cook gives a more in-depth look at the ROC Bus.

“So, the ROC Bus is a Rolling Oklahoma Classroom and we talk about 3 different things, being the importance of transit, how 99% of Oklahomans are aware that they are actually within a mile of transit and we like to let them know that, we also talk about transit opportunities and employment and we also talk about human trafficking,"

On Saturday from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. LATS will be having their Customer Appreciation Day, there will be pizza, cotton candy, fun activities, swag, and more.
