On this week's Community Focus we heard from local indie bookstore owner, Lydia Kelley about how and why she opened Amethyst & Ink in Lawton, last September, and what has happened in her first year of business.
Kelley, who is a mother and military spouse of an active duty service-member, shared a bit about her love for books and why she felt it was important to have her own endeavor, outside of her family responsibilities.
Amethyst & Ink is an indie bookstore that opened their doors in Lawton last September, and have immersed themselves into the community. Kelley's store is filled with not only amazing reads from new and used books, but she also highlights indie authors in a special section at the center of her store.
Many of the indie-authors are local and enjoy the options for book signings and launch parties that Amethyst & Ink hosts regularly.
Kelley is a huge supporter of other small businesses and has an incredible partnership with many local vendors who have their products and crafts on display in her store. From custom T-shirts, all the bookish items you could ever want, and many more great gifts and gadgets, you have to see her space in person and should pay a visit soon if you've never been.
Located at 1814 W. Gore Blvd, Amethyst & Ink is in the same plaza as Mary's Curious Goods, where Kelley worked before she started her own entrepreneurial journey.
