Part two of this week’s community focus: I sat down with Mr. Brian Pack, the Gang Prevention Outreach Advocate at Marie Detty Youth and Family Services. We discussed the upcoming Peace Fest in Lawton, which will be from 11-2, Saturday, June 20.
This is the 3rd annual Peace Fest that Marie Detty is sponsoring for the Lawton and Fort Sill community to enjoy for FREE. The event is ideal for families with youth of all ages and will feature a variety of food, fun and great resources to take home. Hosted on site at their new facility, 4521 SW Lee Blvd, you can find the Marie Detty Youth and Family Center across from Great Plains Technology.
Mr. Pack, a Cameron alumnus, is doing great work in our community to ensure we are reaching youth early, assisting with education and helping to teach life skills like job readiness and career placement. He intends to provide a strong foundation and independence for our community’s youth, to ensure they have the guidance and support necessary to prevent them from violence or gang involvement.
The Peace Fest is a great opportunity to learn about many of the resources available within our community and enjoy a festive environment filled with the friendly faces of those who serve Lawton-Fort Sill and want to make this area better for the current and future citizens.
Listen to our FULL interview above and be sure to come out and support the Peace Fest this weekend!
