Comanche Academy Film Premier: "A Healing Journey," Comes to Lawton

KCCU Cynthia Sosa talks about the upcoming documentary "Comanche Academy: A Healing Journey" on Community Focus.

The documentary delves into the transformative journey of a community striving to heal from the profound trauma of Indian boarding schools.

Comanche Academy: A Healing Journey is a powerful documentary that tells the story of a group of Comanche educators who are working to reclaim their nation and revive their language by establishing an Indigenous charter school. By creating a space for students to rediscover their heritage, the educators of Comanche Academy are fostering a movement of healing and resilience.

The film explores themes of resilience, cultural reclamation, and the power of education through the lens of these female-led educators at Comanche Academy Indigenous Charter School.

The documentary will premiere on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., at the Great Plains Coliseum. For more information and tickets: bit.ly/comanchefilm.
