84th Performance of Handel's Messiah on KCCU Radio

Lawton Schubert Music Club Presents Handel's Messiah

KCCU presents the performance of "Handel's Messiah," presented by the Lawton Schubert Music Club and the Cameron University/Lawton Civic Choir.

Featured soloists include CU alumni Alyson Hays Bishop and Kirk Prucha, CU adjunct professor Khalil Cabrera-Tosado and community members Tia Johnson and Thea Mills. “Messiah” is conducted by Doris Lambert, adjunct instructor at Cameron University and director of choral music at the New Post Chapel.

The Lawton Schubert Music Club initiated the first performance of “Messiah” in Lawton in December 1941. Presented in a variety of settings, it has become a performance tradition during the Christmas season in the greater Lawton/Fort Sill area. The stage will be filled with a chorus of more than 80 singers representing 30 different church congregations and orchestra for this year’s performance.

Mike Leal has more than 30 years of broadcast experience. He began his radio career at 14 as a part-time disc jockey for a Top 40 AM radio station, KSWO 1380, in Lawton. He has worked for KSWO TV, KLAW FM, KGOU FM, WMCE FM and KCCU FM.
