The Texoma Report 4-20-2021

Oklahoma House Bill 1821 is now heading back to the House for final approval after passage from the Senate on Thursday.

The “Save Women’s Sports Act” was approved Monday by the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Rep. Toni Hasenbeck of Elgin is the principle House author of the measure which would require certain athletic teams to be designated based on an athletes’ gender assigned at birth.

After passing the state House and Senate with large bipartisan majorities, a bill allowing people in possession of drugs who need help to receive treatment instead of being arrested heads to the desk of Governor Stitt.

Gov. Kevin Stitt signed a bill into law Monday that will take some responsibility for mental health crisis transports away from police. House Bill 2877 also allows officers to use telemedicine in the field.
