The Texoma Report 3-9-2021

The Senate has given approval to a bill clarifying and strengthening penalties for people who commit crimes during riots. Senate Bill 806, creating the Oklahoma Citizens’ Protection Act, by Sen. Darrell Weaver of Moore, was approved Monday.

Almost all Oklahomans now qualify for the coronavirus vaccine.

The State Senate passes a bill increasing apprenticeship opportunities to more high school students. S-B 619 expands the Apprenticeships, Internships and Mentorships Act of 2016 to include Sophomores 16 years of age or older. Senator David Bullard says his bill also addresses concerns for school districts regarding increased participation.

A bill that passed out of the House of Representatives Monday would require high school students to pass the United States citizenship test in order to graduate.
