Oklahoma Area Runoff Election Results

Lawton, OK – Harold Wright of Weatherford defeated Lyle Miller of Clinton by eight votes for the Republican Party nomination in November for Oklahoma State House District 57. Wright will go on to face Democrat Perry Adams in the fall.

In other local initiatives:

The city of Altus passed a proposed increase in city sales tax from eight to 8-point-5 percent by a 1766-574 margin. With the passage, the city can move forward in building additions to their high school, an economic development package including new roads, a new city complex and police station as well as a new senior citizens center.

The city of Cache also passed an initiative to renew Public Service Company of Oklahoma as their electric franchise 74-3.

A $515,000 bond issue for maintenance projects the Tipton schools passed 146-13 and the Chattanooga school district will recieve an upgrade at their two schools after a $700,000 bond issue passed 197-29. A 2-point-7 million dollar bond issue passed in Cordell 440-179 The bond issue will go towards new elementary classrooms and a new practice gymnasium. The city of Davis passed a one-cent city sales tax increase to help fund a new wastewater plant 225-23.
