Bekah Fountain joined KCCU in fall of 2022 as the station’s News Director.

She graduated from University of Alabama at Birmingham in May of 2017 with a Bachelors in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in political science. While in college, Bekah completed an internship with Girl Scouts Of North Alabama as the social media and journalism intern.

Bekah has a passion for social media due to family all over the world. She says “I love that I can share a cute or funny video and share it with my family in Japan! Even if we’re separated by an ocean, it still feels like they’re right there. Facebook Messenger Video has been amazing too!”

Before landing a job with KCCU as News Director, Bekah was a Social Media Coordinator for Hilliary Communications and Digital Content Coordinator and journalist for Hilliary Media group where she managed multiple Facebook pages and two websites.

Bekah worked for 3 years in news as a production assistant and morning producer at KSWO. Bekah loves Facebook, but her favorite social media platform is TikTok, where she is a Booktoker.

Her favorite genres are horror and thriller, but she’ll read anything if it's interesting. She also has a strong love for Japanese authors.

Bekah identifies as a self-proclaimed “arts kid”, stating she played clarinet and alto saxophone for concert band, marching band, and jazz band throughout middle school, high school, and college, along with taking private art lessons. Bekah also sings and is a member of Allison Yates’ Private Studio.

Bekah is of Japanese heritage and enjoys exploring her culture and heritage by learning to speak more Japanese, reading Japanese authors, and making origami.

In her spare time, Bekah enjoys reading, writing, traveling, reviewing books on TikTok, playing video games, having adventures with friends and family, and spending time with her pup Senbei.

Bekah is a Lifetime Member Of Girl Scouts.
