Comanche County Veterans Council hosts Senate District 32 candidates

Comanche County Veterans Council hosted a Senate District 32 Town Hall Sunday at VFW 5263 in Lawton.

Republicans JJ Francais, Jennifer Ellis, Dr. Jean Hausheer, and Dusty Deevers, along with Democrats Larry Bush and Johnny Jernigan were in attendance.

Topics like education, health, and of course veterans were discussed.

Army veteran Susan Secor attended the town hall and said she walked away with valuable information.

“I didn’t have a preset idea about who I wanted to vote for before I came and it’s helping me to inform my decision and who I’m going to vote for. So it was very productive for me.”

Arlie Hampton the president of League of Women Voters also attended the town hall. She said it was enlightening and a way for voters to get to know their candidate.

“It was enlightening. I think the candidates answered the questions, some may have added too much information, but it does allow one to see in this setting what their goals are, in another setting may be different, but a voter has to be educated to make the right choice.”

The Primary Special Election will be happening Tuesday October 10th.

The candidates that finish first in that election will go on to the December 12th general election.
