Emily Esfahani Smith, author of “The Power of Meaning: Crafting A Life That Matters,” will be the keynote for the 2019 Emerson-Wier Liberal Arts Symposium on Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Te Ata Memorial Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. A reception with the speaker, heavy hors d’oeuvres and wine will be held in the USAO Ballroom at 5:30 p.m. The reception is free, but registration is required by Feb. 15. We’re all striving for happiness—but our culture’s obsession with instant gratification is only making us miserable. After over a hundred interviews, as well as years of research into positive psychology, neuroscience, philosophy and literature, Smith has discovered a more enriching way to live a good life: and that’s through the search for meaning.
