David Meyer

David Meyer joined KCCU in March of 2008, becoming the News Director. David has been involved in radio since the of age of 18, starting as a volunteer and then serving as News Director for AM 1230, KTNC Radio for the summers of 2004-2006 in his hometown of Falls City, Nebraska. David also was a reporter at NPR member station KXCV/KRNW in 2007. All of these positions he held while he was attending college. 


David graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri in December 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcasting and a minor in Coaching.

During his short time at KCCU, David has earned 30 awards. Eight from the Oklahoma chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Eleven from the Oklahoma Associated Press Broadcasters.

David earned nine regional Edward R. Murrow awards from RTDNA (Radio Television Digital News Association).

David's biggest accomplishments to date include winning his first national award in the Writing category from RTDNA. The stories dealt with two events that impacted two separate communities during 2009. One detailed the fallout of one Chrysler dealership in Cordell, Oklahoma after the buyout of the company, followed the news that their dealership was one of the 750 to be closed around the nation. The other story profiled was the recovery efforts of Lone Grove, Oklahoma after a F4 tornado ran through the community, claiming several lives, causing millions in damage and leaving dozens homeless.

He also earned a national award from PRNDI in Writing (Public Radio News Directors Incorporated) for his story on Chrysler's shutdown.


David is a big sports fan and enjoys playing any sport, namely golf and basketball. He also does his best to stay in shape by running and lifting weights. David also follows closely Nebraska Cornhusker football, Creighton basketball, Northwest Bearcat athletics, as well as the Kansas City Royals. He holds an avid interest in politics and learning about history. David also enjoys a wide variety of music of different genres, ranging from hip-hop, country, and alternative rock, to jazz.


David is single and a majority of his family and friends live in Nebraska and Missouri. He enjoys communicating with them often in his free time and going back to visit when time allows. This is his first stint in the Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas region and looks forward to meeting and serving the needs of citizens in KCCU network.
