David Meyer

David Meyer joined KCCU in March of 2008, becoming the News Director. David has been involved in radio for four years serving as News Director for AM 1230, KTNC Radio for the summers of 2004-2006 in his hometown of Falls City, Nebraska. David also was a reporter at NPR member station KXCV/KRNW in 2007. All of these positions he held while he was attending college. 


David graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri in December 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcasting and a minor in Coaching.

During his short time at KCCU, David has earned two awards from the Oklahoma chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. One was in the General News category covering the clean-up efforts of the city of Altus after straight-line winds set back the community in June 2008. He also earned Honorable mention in the Feature category on the 2008 Oklahoma Chautauqua.

David earned three regional Edward R. Murrow awards from RTNDA (Radio Television News Directors Association) in the Feature category for Oklahomans recalling 9/11 and how things have changed since then, in the Hard News category for the Altus storm clean-up and the Best Use of Sound category for the 2008 Lawton Amateur Radio Field Day.


David is a big sports fan and enjoys playing any sport, namely golf and basketball. He also does his best to stay in shape by running and lifting weights. David also follows closely Nebraska Cornhusker football, Creighton basketball, Northwest Bearcat athletics, as well as the Kansas City Royals. He holds an avid interest in politics and learning about history. David also enjoys a wide variety of music of different genres, ranging from hip-hop, country, and alternative rock, to jazz.


David is single and a majority of his family and friends live in Nebraska and Missouri. He enjoys communicating with them often in his free time and going back to visit when time allows. This is his first stint in the Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas region and looks forward to meeting and serving the needs of citizens in KCCU network.
